Children can also be victims directly or indirectly. They themselves can be injured or see how someone else gets injured. Children who are continually exposed to violence, such as those having to survive in the centre of a big city, become the victims of sustained traumatic stress. When a child has to go through a traumatic experience, such as molestation or family- violence, repeatedly, it leads to complex trauma. Children’s response to trauma differs according to their age, mental and emotional development, and their support system’s effectiveness.
